My new book recommendation: THE YEAR OF YES BY SHONA RHIMES.
Before her Year of Yes, Shonda Rhimes was an expert at declining invitations others would leap to accept. With three children at home and three hit television shows on TV, it was easy to say that she was simply too busy. But in truth, she was also afraid. Afraid of cocktail party faux pas like chucking a chicken bone across a room; petrified of live television appearances where Shonda Rhimes could trip and fall and bleed out right there in front of a live studio audience; terrified of the difficult conversations that came so easily to her characters on-screen. In the before, Shonda’s introvert life revolved around burying herself in work, snuggling her children, and comforting herself with food.
In fact, Shonda is like many of us- afraid of failure.
But we all learn failure is just a stepping stone to ultimately teach us something for use later on.
Me and a few of my friends have been inspired as to how Shonda has turned her life around and we too have adopted the principle of saying yes to opportunities that we otherwise might have passed on.
I just booked a ski trip to Deer Valley and have never set foot on a pair of skis in my life!
There’ a first time for everything, right?
What have I got to lose?
I have always dreamed of slipping down those Black Diamond slopes in a killer Gorsuch ski ensemble- so wish me luck- will ride or die.
This is only the first of new challenges I plan to pursue in 2016.
I am fearless!
This wildly candid and compulsively readable book reveals how the mega talented Shonda Rhimes, an unexpected introvert, achieved SUCCESS worthy of a Shondaland character. And how you can too.
Grab it at the airport for your next flight- easy to enjoy!
